Research Tasks

Sorted by Priority

All research is done on WORK DAYS using the work computer. Research produces LISTS — recipe titles, article titles, course titles, content outlines, topic ideas. Those lists feed HOME DAY production work (images, templates, products, courses, articles).

These tasks are ONGOING. They repeat on the monthly schedule. Check them off as completed for each cycle, then start the list again.

Block 1

Course Content — Highest Priority

15 research tasks

  • Research recipes — compile lists of recipe titles organized by category (appetizers, cakes/cupcakes, cookies/candies, beverages/cocktails, finger foods)
  • Research menus for events — birthday, baby shower, graduation, holiday, wedding, corporate, each with snacks only / light meal / full meal course structures
  • Research menu courses per age group: 0-3, 4-6, 7-12, 13-18, 19+
  • Research party menus by theme — themes should match Design Studio editor themes
  • Research catering menus — grazing table, buffet, family style serving structures
  • Research beverages and cocktails — study The Educated Barfly on YouTube
  • Study Chef Jean-Pierre on YouTube — classic French technique, sauces, plating
  • Study Gordon Ramsay on YouTube — professional technique, recipe ideas
  • Study Food Network on YouTube — party food ideas, trending recipes
  • Study Pro Home Cooks (Mike Greenfield) on YouTube — cooking METHODS not recipes, knife skills, how heat works, building flavor, pan sauces, how to cook any protein
  • Study Epicurious technique playlist on YouTube — individual methods as standalone skill videos: braising, blanching, emulsifying, knife cuts, searing
  • Study Ethan Chlebowski on YouTube — science-based cooking, explains WHY techniques work
  • Study America’s Test Kitchen website — science-based recipe development
  • Research how to become a party planner — no degree needed, focus on that angle for courses
  • Compile lists of course lesson titles for: Profitable Crafts, Party Planning, Wedding Planning, Catering

From Your Notes

  • Recipes are the fastest content to publish. WP Recipe Maker gives Google structured data/schema markup. Recipe searches have massive search volume. Recipes go up first to start building organic traffic while everything else is being built.
  • Cooking → Catering: follow same plan that was originally intended for Chefts. Menus → Events → Party Themes, Weddings, Holidays. Appetizers, Cakes & Cupcakes, Cookies, Finger Foods.
  • Child activities — molds to match themes. Carve molds for fondant decor!! These are research items for future course content.
  • Every event has: Menu + Beverages, Guest List + Invitations + RSVP Cards, Itinerary, Decorations, Activities, Party Favors. Research how each event type structures these elements.
  • How to cater an event or party. Serving styles: Grazing Table, Buffet, Family Style. How to become a party planner — Event Planning → NO DEGREE → Focus on that. Offer certification for $ — for parties & weddings.
  • Can some recipes be blocked — must be a member to view? Decision: gate the MENUS and MEAL PLANS, keep individual recipes free for SEO.
  • All methods must have instructions.
  • Some recipes will use Strange Seasons. Join Amazon Associates for ingredients & equipment.

Recommendations

  • When researching recipes, compile them into three lists: (1) FREE recipes that go on the blog for SEO traffic, (2) MEMBER recipes that go behind the paywall as part of meal plans/menus, (3) COURSE recipes that are taught step-by-step inside LearnDash lessons. One recipe can appear in all three lists if structured differently — the free version is the recipe, the member version is the meal plan it fits into, the course version is the video lesson teaching the method.
  • For each recipe title you research, also note which events/occasions it fits. A recipe for ‘Mini Caprese Skewers’ fits: birthday (7-12, 13-18, 19+), bridal shower, baby shower, cocktail party, corporate event. This cross-referencing builds your menu database exponentially faster.
Block 2

Ambassador & Marketing

10 research tasks

  • Research social media marketing strategies — what platforms work for crafters and printable sellers
  • Research ways ambassadors can promote Priey — what tactics work for affiliate/ambassador programs
  • Research ambassador tips and strategies from other membership programs
  • Research ways to mass market the website — free and paid methods
  • Study Terri Savelle Foy — vision board methodology, goal-setting, envisioning the end result
  • Brainstorm article topics — titles that would rank for paper crafts, party planning, profitable crafts keywords
  • Research article topics per county/town for hyper-local SEO — compile list of target counties and towns
  • Research what social media content gets the most engagement in the crafting/printables niche
  • Research Pinterest strategies specifically for crafters — pin format, descriptions, board structure
  • Research vendor events / craft shows / flea markets in your area — dates, booth fees, requirements

From Your Notes

  • Use ALL social media as FREE ADS. Use Pinterest to grab locally in rural areas. Showcase products: do a pop-up with Priey — popcorn & cotton candy; TRAVEL to towns.
  • Use Indeed again for hiring/recruiting ambassadors — people searching for work-from-home are the exact target audience.
  • Sell the program: 2 sign-ups pay for a membership. Show how easy and affordable it is to start.
  • Online marketing is a sham — influencers make it look easy yet pay large sums for the views. Your content should expose this truth while positioning Priey as the honest alternative.
  • Write articles per county or town — hyper-local SEO with virtually zero competition.
  • Focus on traffic — ALL. Free templates link to a page with instructions, link, ad. Maybe AdSense — not sure, definitely email.

Recommendations

  • Your highest ROI research task in this block is compiling a list of every county and small town within 100 miles of you. For each one, note: population, whether they have a craft show or farmers market, and any local Facebook groups for moms or crafters. This becomes your hyper-local SEO target list AND your pop-up booth tour route.
  • Research what other printable membership sites charge their ambassadors vs what they pay. You’re offering 25-60% recurring commissions — if competitors offer 10-20% one-time, that’s a massive selling point for your Indeed recruitment and ambassador pitch.
Block 3

  • Study Molecule-R — spherification, foams, gels, accessible molecular gastronomy techniques
  • Research cottage food laws in Georgia — what you can legally sell from home (Strange Seasons, Strange Cookies, cookie mixes)

From Your Notes

  • Ten permanent anchor countries with signature sauces: USA (Ranch), Mexico (Salsa verde), Italy (Marinara), China (Soy-ginger glaze), Ethiopia (Awaze), Thailand (Sweet chili), Jamaica (Jerk sauce), India (Tikka masala), Brazil (Chimichurri), Morocco (Harissa).
  • StrangePlate World Base Sauce built on ten most common global sauce ingredients: chili peppers, garlic, tomatoes, onions, salt, vinegar, oil, lemon/lime juice, ginger, sugar. Base pivots into any country sauce with 1-3 additional ingredients.
  • Black charcoal buns are the proprietary product — franchisees must source from your central kitchen. Brand built around spectacle: color-changing butterfly pea sauces, edible glitter, popping boba. Tagline: Bold Flavors. Weirdly Delicious.
  • Blue Plate mayo is the secret base for all mayo-based sauces — pursuing Reily Foods as sponsor/partner.
  • Strange Plate to be first ‘business’ to use Priey?? MAYBE? Not for labels, but seasons as ingredient in some recipes — LATER after seasons are created.
  • Strange Cookies is future phase — cottage food cookie mixes with Strange Seasons, hand-carved fondant molds matching Priey themes.
  • Develop a wrap or roll = layers of toppings, seasons & sauces. Think of a fun new way to serve potatoes — seasoned but not battered.
  • Sliders & Krystal’s & Jack’s Burgers are all about the FLAVOR — very little meat, lots of bread aka FLOUR. Flavor the bread with Strange Seasons.
  • How to create ‘Strange’ dishes that taste phenomenal!!?? Study Atchez.
  • Acquisition roadmap: concession trailer first (~$8-9K) → truck (4WD Ford or Dodge) → land → commercial lot for shed kitchen. McRae-Helena building at 53 W Oak St on radar ($49K, C1, corner lot, 5,480 cars/day).
  • Trademark filing explored: USPTO Classes 30 (sauces/spices) and 43 (restaurant/food service). Realistic cost: $700-$900 for two-class filing. Georgia state registration at $15/class.

Recommendations

  • Your ServSafe Manager certification should be priority #1 in this block. It’s required for the food truck, required for cottage food credibility, and it goes on your resume as a certified food safety professional. Study for it during slow shifts — the book is your most productive use of downtime at work.
  • When researching spice suppliers, look specifically for co-packing services — companies that will blend, package, and label YOUR recipes under YOUR brand. This eliminates the need for your own packaging facility at launch. You develop the recipes, they produce the product, you sell it online through Priey and at the food truck.
  • The flour-as-fusion-vehicle insight is genuinely brilliant. Research every flour-based food across your ten countries: pasta (Italy), wonton/noodles (China), injera (Ethiopia), roti/naan (India), tortilla (Mexico), bammy (Jamaica), msemen (Morocco), pão de queijo (Brazil), Thai spring roll wrappers (Thailand), biscuit/cornbread (USA). Strange Plate’s menu writes itself from this single concept.
Block 4

Platform Launch Support

13 research tasks

From Your Notes

  • Print and study Parthas Potions — this is the foundational marketing method. Two physical books of notes already printed. Everything about how the site markets itself comes from this strategy.
  • Study Delish.com — 113 Easy Bite-Sized Appetizers was specifically starred for SEO study. The way they structure that article is the model for Priey’s content.
  • All the catering competitor sites were starred in your notes with ‘Read!! More!!’ written next to them. These are the sites to study for how catering content is presented and how it ranks.

Recommendations

  • When studying Parthas Potions, create a one-page summary of the top 5 tactics you can implement immediately. Don’t try to implement everything at once — pick the five most impactful strategies, execute those first, then layer in more over time.
  • When browsing YITH and Barn2 plugins, don’t just look at features — check the price, check the reviews, check if they conflict with your existing plugins. Create a simple spreadsheet: plugin name, what it does, price, needed now or later, conflicts. Bring that list to a chat with me and we’ll sort through it together.
Block 5

Product & Template Inspiration

16 research tasks

  • Study Etsy competitors — browse their shops, note bestsellers, pricing, presentation:
  • — AndrinasKreations (Hershey Purses)
  • — Paperminx Printables
  • — PaperZenShop
  • — Coloring Suitcase
  • — AMothersCrafts (Activity Bags)
  • — Reese Creates LLC (3D designs, party favors)
  • — Xron Creative Station
  • Study Decor8yourlife YouTube channel — template and product ideas
  • Study Noreva Projects YouTube channel — craft and party favor projects
  • Study Hanging with the Kiddos YouTube channel — budget custom party favors, your exact market
  • Study Lia Griffith YouTube + liagriffith.com — paper crafts AND her membership model (similar to yours)
  • Study Positively Papercraft YouTube — 3D craft projects, gift boxes, unusual bags
  • Study Johanna Clough / Junk Journal Inspirations YouTube — junk journaling tutorials and vintage ephemera
  • Search ‘Handmade Party’ for product ideas
  • Research profitable products — what sells best at craft shows, on Etsy, online, at vendor booths

From Your Notes

  • All of these are research and inspiration sources from your notes. Study what they do — then do it better with your exclusive themed images, your Design Studio, and your editor protection model.
  • Lia Griffith is the most important competitor to study because she runs a membership model for paper craft templates — the closest business model to Priey in the market. Study her pricing, her membership structure, her content strategy, and where she falls short (no custom editor, no exclusive AI-generated themes, no ambassador program).

Recommendations

  • When studying Etsy competitors, screenshot their top 10 bestselling items. Note: what the product is, the price, number of sales, and the main product photo. Compile these into a reference sheet. This tells you exactly what the market is already buying — and what you can offer through Priey with better themes and a better tool.
  • Pay special attention to Lia Griffith’s membership page — how she presents the value, what her pricing is, what her cancellation rate seems like (check reviews). She’s proof that membership-for-templates works. Every weakness in her model is an opportunity for Priey.
Block 6

Personal

3 research tasks

  • Research fishing gear — what equipment you need
  • Research fishing areas near you — lakes, rivers, ponds
  • TAKE TIME TO FISH

From Your Notes

  • On any day, research spices from other countries. Become expert on spices, seasons & sauces. TAKE TIME TO FISH. From your planner sidebar notes.

Recommendations

  • This is not optional. You work 12-hour shifts at a prison and spend every free hour building a business empire. If you burn out, everything stops. Fishing is not a luxury — it’s maintenance on the engine that drives everything else. Schedule it.
